Brand.net Appoints Advertising Veteran and Pioneer George Garrick to Board of Directors

Former TapJoy, Flycast & AC Nielsen CEO Will Also Serve as Acting CEO of Brand.net

SAN MATEO, Calif., April 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Brand.net, the leading digital media brand buying solution for the largest global brands, today announced that George Garrick has been named to the Board of Directors and will also serve as acting CEO, following the resignation of CEO Elizabeth Blair. Garrick brings more than 25 years of experience in advertising, technology and consumer businesses to Brand.net.

"Brand.net has the best platform in the industry for enabling brand advertisers and agencies to reach their target audiences with guaranteed reach, frequency and sophisticated targeting across web and mobile devices using display, rich media and video formats. It's well known that brand advertising is under-developed in digital relative to audience share, and Brand.net eliminates the barriers that have been preventing more brand advertisers from adopting the web and mobile by giving them a platform with capabilities that match what they have with TV and other conventional media," said Garrick.

Garrick brings with him a wealth of brand and advertising experience and has frequently been at the leading edge of advertising technology. During the 80s and 90s, Garrick was CEO of both IRI and Nielsen, North America's two largest marketing and advertising measurement firms. At IRI, Garrick helped develop the first electronic methodology for matching TV ad exposure to purchase behavior. During these years, Garrick was a nationally recognized figure, frequent keynote speaker and pioneering thinker in the CPG advertising and marketing measurement industry, and a board member of the Advertising Research Foundation. In 1998, he took over as CEO of Flycast Communications which soon became the most successful ad network of the early Internet by defining the basic Web ROI ad model which still holds today. Flycast went public a year later at a $500MM market cap and was sold nine months later for more than $2 billion. As CEO of FREE-411, Garrick launched the first large-scale in-call audio ad network, and has most recently led advertising and monetization initiatives in web, social and mobile gaming through CEO roles at Mochi Media and TapJoy (formerly Offerpal).
