WXYZ-TV Wins Silver Telly Award

Detroit 2020 "A Conversation for Change" honored in 'Social Responsibility" category

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Telly Awards has named WXYZ-TV as a Silver winner in the 33rd Annual Telly Awards for the Detroit 2020 program, "A Conversation for Change," that tackled issues of race relations. The silver award is the highest honor given by the Telly Awards. The show received the award in the category of "social responsibility."

"A Conversation for Change" was part of WXYZ's Detroit 2020 campaign, a decade-long, multi-platform initiative designed to make Metro Detroit a better place to live, work and raise families by the year 2020. Its motto is UNIFY. INSPIRE. ACT. The show focused on the biggest issues surrounding race in the Detroit area and what can be done to break down barriers.

The dialogue was lead by a group of representatives from diverse communities throughout Metro Detroit, and included viewer interaction through emails, Facebook and Twitter.

More than 11,000 entries were submitted from all 50 states in this year's Telly Competition.

A prestigious judging panel of more than 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of the Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents.
