Sky Bet Suspends Coronation Street Betting
Sky Bet Suspends Coronation Street Betting
LONDON, March 9, 2012/PRNewswire/ --
Sky Bet have suspended their Coronation Street online betting [http://www.skybet.com ]
market on who killed Frank Foster following a flood of bets on the character's mother.
Sky Bet had chalked up Anne Foster as a 7/2 shot on Tuesday, following Monday night's
show in which the evil business man was found dead at Underworld.
However, Anne Foster's odds had plummeted to 9/4 by Tuesday evening and after more
money was taken at 10/11 on Wednesday, Sky Bet took evasive action, cutting the odds to
8/15 on Thursday before shutting the book. Although not one of the five suspects, Anne has
a motive and was rejected by her son shortly before he died. Her whereabouts on the night
of his murder are not yet known.
Other characters in the frame include Carla Connor, who was raped by Foster and then
conned out of her factory. Carla was Sky Bet's 7/2 second favourite, when betting was
suspended. Another popular bet was Michelle Connor (6/1), who destroyed the contract
signing the business over to Frank. Frank's ex-lover Sally Webster became a prime suspect
after being discovered with Frank's body and bloodied hands and Sky Bet made her a 20/1
chance. Kevin Webster, who threatened to kill Frank after discovering how badly he had
treated ex-wife Sally, was a 12/1 shot.
Sky Bet's Helen Jacob said: "We've bet on quite few soap whodunnits over the years but
punters have never been so convinced of the culprit as in this case."
The identity of the killer will be revealed later this month.
