About Oritel
Oritel's mission is to improve the aid for persons with physical disabilities in our continent, as well as look for the resources needed to offer them specialized, quality services for their treatment and rehabilitation, so they can achieve a holistic integration to society. The mission referred to as "Teleton," was created in 1978 by host Mario Kreutzberger (Don Francisco) in his native Chile, where he headed a 24-hour television program to help raise funds for the creation of rehabilitation centers for children and youth in the country. Twenty years later, the first international chapter for this effort was born to promote regional cooperation for disability awareness and to ensure that the proper services would become available throughout the continent. Today, Oritel is comprised of more than 90 rehabilitation centers in more than 12 countries, whose mission is to promote the development of services for persons with disabilities, from its medical network and technical training and coverage to technology integration, putting the organization on the path to becoming one of the largest humanitarian efforts in the world over the next few years.
