Action Sports Network Connects Fans to Top Athletes From Around The World
NEW YORK, Jan. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The future of action sports begins today and it will be televised exclusively on YouTube. Bedrocket Media Ventures and Wasserman Media Group announce the exclusive preview of Network A (youtube.com/networka), a new network featuring some of the best athletes and filmmakers from around the world presenting an unprecedented collection of new and original shows. Plus, Network A, from the same team that invented ESPN Classic, will dig into the vaults and share the most amazing and defiant performances and personalities in the history of action sports featuring top athletes.
One of the features that makes Network A unique is its programming strategy that recognizes the individual characteristics of the different verticals it serves: Skate, Snow, Ski, Surf, BMX, Moto, and Rally. Fans, blogs, athletes, and media outlets will have the ability to embed the Network A player wherever they want, but will have the opportunity to select the entire network feed, or just the individual channel they care most about.
"Some of the best and most innovative filmmaking in all of entertainment is coming from skaters and surfers and the rest of the action world, so it seems natural to build a new kind of network to help fund and share this stuff with the community," said Brian Bedol, founder and CEO of Bedrocket. "Our goal is to work with both the established and the yet-to-be-discovered filmmakers and pros, and give them a place to connect directly with the biggest audiences in the world."
"We have the ability, right here and right now to instantaneously deliver premium action sports content to fans around the world. The best part is we have assembled what is the most definitive expert team in the industry to produce, curate, and deliver all-star talent and filmmaking in a way that ups our commitment to action sports and brings to life the excitement that was once only available live," said Steve Astephen President, Action Sports and Lifestyle at Wasserman Media Group.
The team behind Network A includes Annie Fast, who most recently was Editor-in-Chief of TransWorld Snow; Micah Abrams, previously Senior Editor of Action Sports at ESPN.com and former Editor-in-Chief of Freeze Magazine; Kent Rees, formerly Senior Vice President of Marketing at IFC; Stefan Van Engen, an experienced producer and programmer of sports for multiple networks and platforms; and Wasserman Media Group's David Brooks who prior to joining Wasserman was a partner at action sports studio 411 Productions, and Circe Wallace who has numerous action sports production credits to her name including most recently as Executive Producer of "The Art of Flight" the #1 grossing action sports film of 2011.
Fans can also follow all the action across the web on Facebook (facebook.com/networka), Twitter (@networka), Tumblr (networka.tumblr.com), and Google+ (plus.google.com/110891927986073292971/posts).
