One Last Time Across the Pond - Iconic British Group Gerry and the Pacemakers to Embark on 2012 Farewell USA and Canada Tour
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- After more than a half century of touring the globe, the iconic British '60s music group Gerry and The Pacemakers will cross the pond for the last time in 2012-2013. The Bazel Group, Inc. (http://www.thebazelgroup.com) has been selected to book the group on an exclusive tour of venues throughout the United States and Canada for July, August and the first two weeks of September 2012 only.
"Gerry has decided to bring the curtain down on international touring," said Robert Pratt, the manager of Gerry and the Pacemakers. "He will embark on a series of 'Farewell Tours' in 2012 and 2013, with the first taking place in the USA and Canada during the summer of 2012. Gerry wants to thank all his fans for their wonderful support through the years. We are delighted to have The Bazel Group on board as our agents for what we believe will be one last exciting tour."
Signed by Beatles manager Brian Epstein in 1962, Gerry and The Pacemakers made their name with ballads like "How Do You Do It," "I Like It," "Ferry Cross the Mersey," "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying" and more.
Their biggest hit was the song "You'll Never Walk Alone," originally from the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical "Carousel," which had enthralled the group's lead vocalists and co-founder, Gerry Marsden, when he first saw the film in his youth. The Pacemakers' rendition of that song has been the anthem of the crowds at Liverpool Football Club for three decades; it is played before kick-off every Saturday, is inscribed on the club gates and has remained the Pacemakers' most popular concert request.
The Bazel Group is currently accepting booking requests for this historic event, and the band is looking forward to rocking out with North American audiences one more time. "Having decided to retire from international touring, I have decided to say one final farewell to all my fans in the USA and Canada," said Marsden. "It has been a blast all these years, and I look forward to the last tour as I did the first one. See you at the concerts."
