OWINGS MILLS, Md., Nov. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Maryland Public Television (MPT), with support from Booz Allen Hamilton and AARP, presents America's Veterans: A Musical Tribute 2011, a stirring, star-studded salute to all the men and women who have served with courage and honor in the United States Armed Forces. For the fourth consecutive year, America's Veteran's airs on public television stations nationwide, premiering on November 10, 2011 at 8:30 p.m.
Led by the United States Air Force Band, including The Singing Sergeants and full orchestra, the 2011 lineup includes powerhouse performances by renowned Irish tenor Ronan Tynan, chart-topping country singer Jo Dee Messina, Grammy and Emmy award-winning jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, and So You Think You Can Dance Season 3winner Sabra Johnson.
Both inspiring and entertaining, the one-hour special features an unforgettable mix of popular songs and rousing patriotic classics. America's Veterans was recorded at one of the nation's finest concert halls, the stunning Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda, Maryland.
Throughout the program there are moving tributes to heroes from all five branches of the military who are seated in the audience, including, U.S. Air Force retired Col. George Everette "Bud" Day, the most highly decorated living American. A Medal of Honor recipient, Col.Day served in World War II, the Korean War, and survived more than five harrowing years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.
America's Veterans: A Musical Tribute has become a perennial favorite, both honoring our men and women in uniform, and promoting a greater understanding of the sacrifices they've made for our nation's freedom.
