Beat the Traffic, Cross MediaWorks Team Up to Help TV Stations Trade Airtime for Professional, Real-Time Traffic Information
Unique partnership provides opportunity for stations to barter airtime inventories for real-time reporting tools--in addition to products and services that stations can use to attract advertisers
NEW YORK and SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Beat the Traffic®, a leading provider of real-time traffic information for broadcast media and mobile devices, and Cross MediaWorks, a provider of media sales and advertising services to the television advertising industry, are together offering television stations a new option for acquiring Beat the Traffic's interactive 3-D traffic maps for broadcasters. This one-of-a-kind partnership enables stations that either do not currently produce traffic reports or wish to enhance their current broadcasts trade airtime for Beat the Traffic's tools, in addition to other goods and services.

Key to the partnership will be Apex Media, a Cross MediaWorks company with a 20-year history of helping broadcasters and cable outlets use their airtime "inventories" to purchase special products and services that can be used to attract both viewers and advertisers. More than 500 broadcast stations and cable networks throughout the U.S. use Apex Media by trading inventories that range from 10-second direct response spots to 30-minute, infomercial length segments. A second Cross MediaWorks company, TelAmerica Media, aggregates spot inventories from local stations to develop targeted media buys for advertisers.
Stations that sign up with Apex Media will be able to use their airtime to obtain Beat the Traffic's animated 3-D maps and interactive tools, which are already used by 55 North American television and media affiliates. Beat the Traffic's industry leading technology utilizes high-resolution topography as well as real-time traffic data from multiple sources. Television reporters can use Beat the Traffic's maps to zoom in on specific road incidents, including delays, accidents and road construction. Along with average road speeds and travel times, Beat the Traffic's maps provide up-to-the-minute traffic forecasts and can be customized for specific audiences.
Stated Marc Krigsman, CEO of Cross MediaWorks: "The opportunity to partner with Beat the Traffic is a win-win for both of us. Television stations now have the option to go the barter route to pay for all or a portion of this unique service. We in turn bring the resources of Cross MediaWorks, especially our Apex Media and TelAmerica Media brands into play, selling a variety of bartered inventory to assist stations in purchasing Beat the Traffic. This is an important option for stations to have, especially when budgets are tight, yet the need to provide viewers with important traffic information so great."
Beat the Traffic CEO Andre Gueziec agreed. "It's all about giving television stations more options by freeing up the inventories they already have," Gueziec said. "Because of the extraordinary strategies Cross MediaWorks has developed, stations can now choose to leverage valuable airtime to acquire in-depth, real-time traffic content -- and attract greater numbers of advertisers, as well. Meanwhile, more consumers than ever will get access to our technology, so they can travel more efficiently and more safely. Put simply, everybody wins."
