Tenor Anthony Kearns Returns to Chicago!

Member of The Irish Tenors in Solo Concert at IAHC to Benefit Autism Awareness

CHICAGO, Oct. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Wexford Institute and the Irish American Heritage Center present Anthony Kearns in a solo concert of favorite songs from Ireland to Broadway to popular classics on Saturday, October 15 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available at irish-american.org. Kearns insists that "People need to come out and enjoy themselves...tap their toes, forget their woes, clap their hands, sing along, and have a good ol' time!"

Kearns will be interviewed October 4th on WTTW's Chicago Tonight. He recently performed in Hallelujah Broadway at Chicago's Auditorium Theater, thrilling audiences with his renditions of Bring Him Home, I'll Be Seeing You, For Good, and other Broadway hits.

Kearns has joined Wexford Institute in an on-going series of solo concerts to support free online autism resources, in English and Spanish, for educators and families of children with autism. The first four concerts Wexford presented last fall resulted in those resources being accessed by individuals across the U.S. as well as 11 other countries, including Ireland.

Wexford Institute is a U.S. nonprofit educational agency. Coincidentally, Kearns is from County Wexford in Ireland, as was the family of President John F. Kennedy. Because of these coincidences, Kearns and Wexford Institute began this successful collaboration, which also celebrates the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's presidency during this series of concerts, referred to as "The Wexford Tour."

Kearns spends considerable time and energy every year singing for worthy causes worldwide. Because Kearns feels blessed to have a successful international career, giving back is a strong focus. Kearns has also performed for more than a decade at many special events, with The Irish Tenors, in his solo career, and in acclaimed opera roles in the U.S. and abroad.

Michael Collins, Ireland's Ambassador to the U.S., called Kearns, "Ireland's foremost tenor and a great ambassador for Ireland." Former Ambassador, Jean Kennedy Smith, referring to Kearns' performance at a memorial service in County Wexford for her brother, the late President Kennedy, declared, "I have never heard a better Irish tenor voice."
