Perez Hilton Takes On His First-Ever Spanish Speaking Role On the Daily Scripted Series "Popland"

Tr3s: MTV, Musica y Mas Casts Hilton as Paparazzi Guru to show's Lead Role

"Popland" premieres Monday - Friday at 10 pm ET

MIAMI, Oct. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Tr3s: MTV, Musica y Mas adds Perez Hilton to the roster of guest appearances for its new daily scripted series "Popland", which follows the journey of Carla (played by Sara Cobo) from small town life to the star-studded paparazzi-world of celebrities, parties, and a love affair that rocks her world forever. Perez Hilton will take on the role of paparazzi guru, giving the amateur paparazzi photographer and gossip columnist a boost of confidence and advice to "take risks but speak the truth". This marks Hilton's first Spanish-speaking role on television, and makes his debut on the December 15th episode. "Popland" premiers Monday-Friday at 10pm (ET) on Tr3s: MTV, Musica y Mas.

"I'm thrilled to bring some extra spice to Tr3s' already caliente new soap Popland! This extra special cameo is in Spanish and I'm thrilled to show people this other side of me!" commented Perez.

Raised in a small town, Carla (Sara Cobo) is an intelligent, loyal, charismatic and ambitious 18-year-old who dreams big and achieves bigger. She launches herself into the big city and lands the job of a lifetime at the most popular celebrity gossip site in the city, Popland.com. There she quickly learns that VIP access and exclusive shots come at a price. Although the competitive world of the paparazzi puts Carla's career on thin ice, her persistence and determination never let her down.

Popland features both established and emerging talent from Latin America and the US, including Sara Cobo (Mexico), Jon Ecker (U.S.), Ricardo Abarca (Mexico) and Manuela Gonzalez (Colombia). The story was written by Argentinean writers Marcelo Camano (Vidas Robadas, El Capo, Montecristo) and Claudia Bono (Ninas Mal; teen comedy, Ensename a Vivir).
