Grupo Salinas and Azteca America Sponsor Fellows from the US-Mexico Jovenes en Accion Program to Attend Ciudad de las Ideas Thinkers' Forum in Puebla, Mexico

MEXICO CITY, Oct. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Grupo Salinas and Azteca America are proud to sponsor a delegation of fellows from the US-Mexico Jovenes en Accion program to attend Ciudad de las Ideas, a three-day thinkers' forum held in the city of Puebla, Nov. 10-12.

Now in its fourth year, Ciudad de las Ideas is a vanguard thinkers' forum that will feature this year presentations by Paul Krugman, Mark Spitz, Oliver Stone and Karla Wheelock, among many others.

Jovenes en Accion is a youth exchange program that develops leadership skills, fosters civic engagement, and supports Mexican public high school students in creating service projects to implement in their communities. The program was initiated in 2010 by the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City and the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) with support from the private sector.

The scholarships are also open to other US State Department youth leadership development participants following a selection process where they are asked to post a short video or submit a photo accompanied by a 150-word word essay to the U.S. Embassy Facebook page. The deadline for entries is October 16, with winners determined through online voting and announced during the week of October 24. La Universidad de las Americas will provide housing for the students during the conference.
