New Science Documentary Showing That Butterflies are Intelligently Designed will Premiere at SMU Sept. 20th
DALLAS, Sept. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In 2005 President George W. Bush gave an intellectual push to a scientific challenger of Darwinian evolution called intelligent design. Since that time many peer reviewed scientific and popular level articles and materials advocating intelligent design have been produced, according to the Discovery Institute. The latest is Metamorphosis: The Beauty and Design of Butterflies.
Metamorphosis gets its title from the mind-blowing magical routine by which the caterpillar enters into the chrysalis, dissolves into a buttery blob and swiftly reconstitutes itself into a completely different insect, a butterfly.
Illustra Media has made the most easily accessible, visually stunning case for intelligent design available to date. The film argues that neither metamorphosis nor migration is the kind of feature with which blindly groping Darwinian natural selection could ever equip a creature. How could an unguided step-by-step process build metamorphosis, inherently an all-or-nothing proposition?
SMU PULSE is proud to sponsor this free event starting at 7 p.m., Sept. 20th, in the Hughes Trigg Student Center. Immediately after the screening, two of the scientists from the film, biologist Dr. Ann Gauger and philosopher of biology Dr. Paul Nelson, will take questions from the audience.
