DETROIT, Aug. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The WORD Network is pleased to present a 2011 Leadership Summit, "State Of The Black Family", a gathering of some of the most respected black leaders in the United States including the Reverend Jesse Jackson, Reverend Al Sharpton, Comedian and Social Activist Dick Gregory, Reverend Dr. Elaine Flake, Detroit's own Honorable Judge Greg Mathis and many more influential men and women. Greater Grace Temple's Bishop Charles H. Ellis III will of course host this important event.

The event, which will include speeches, workshops, and health screenings, will take place on Friday September 9th and run from 8:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Topics will include:


-- 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Faith Based Community Development workshops with State
Senator Tupac Hunter, Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee, City Council
Member JoAnne Watson, Dr. Kimberly Dawn Wisdom, and Dayna Clark of WJR.
-- 2 p.m.-4 p.m., free health screenings hosted by Henry Ford Health
Systems.
-- 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m., panel discussion, Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick, Liston
Page, and Bishop Derek Triplett.
-- 7 p.m.-10 p.m., panel discussion featuring such topics as education vs.
incarceration, economic empowerment and entrepreneurship, health care,
breakdown of the black family, unemployment and domestic violence.
Reverend's Jackson and Sharpton along with Judge Mathis will appear.
