WASHINGTON, July 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tune in now to AFGE's "Inside Government" to learn about the impact Pennsylvania's budget cuts will have on public services. The show, which originally aired on Friday, July 15, is now available on demand.
Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President Rick Bloomingdale discussed the cuts as part of Governor Tom Corbett's (R-Pa.) first state budget. Bloomingdale indicated public services such as welfare and senior care could suffer as part of the reduced budget.
But first, National Education Association (NEA) President Dennis Van Roekel addressed the role parents, teachers and the community play in a child's education and development. Van Roekel also discussed NEA's response to the attack on teachers and public workers as well as challenges teachers face in today's economic climate.
Former Clinton White House spokesman Bob Weiner then provided analysis of debt ceiling negotiations in Washington and what a final deal could look like.
Lastly, First Command Financial Services District Advisor Bob Hill provided personal finance and retirement planning tips for federal employees including a plan to increase long-term savings and reduce risk.
