"Innovators in Music" (Saturday, August 6, 13 and 20 8 p.m. ET/PT and 9 p.m. ET/PT) - An inspiring series of unique documentary films "Innovators in Music" profiles six dynamic musicians from a variety of musical genres, backgrounds and disciplines. Featuring iconic musicians (in order of airing) Levon Helm, Mickey Hart, Steve Earle, Billy Bragg, Dave Stewart and Sonic Youth, "Innovators in Music" explores how the artistic impulse extends beyond music making and into other realms of creative pursuits; from photography and painting to politics and bonsai.
"Burzynski: Cancer is a Serious Business" (August 7, 8 p.m. ET/PT) - The shocking story of Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski, a medical doctor and PhD biochemist who won the largest and possibly the most convoluted and intriguing legal battle against the Food & Drug Administration in American history. "Burzynski: Cancer is a Serious Business" exposes the corruption in the FDA, the US patent office and the pharmaceutical community, providing a revealing look at Dr. Burzynski's decades long battle to gain the required approvals for his life-saving, gene-targeted cancer medicines. Upon approval, Dr. Burzynski's treatment will mark the first time in history a single scientist, not a pharmaceutical company, will hold the exclusive patent and distribution rights on a paradigm-shifting medical breakthrough.
"Behind the Shimmy" (August 14, 8 p.m. ET/PT) - The wildly entertaining story of an all-star troupe of America's finest belly dancers and their trek across the country as part of rock n' roll's most notorious tour, Lollapalooza. Assembled by rock legend Miles Copeland, this talented group of dancers holds nothing back as the camera follows their journey - backstage, on the "bellybus," in the dressing rooms and across America - sharing a no-holds-barred view of one wild-eyed music mogul, twelve belly-baring dancers and an exotic farrago of flamboyant rock stars including Jane's Addition, Incubus and Audioslave.
"Trimpin: The Sound of Invention" (August 21, 8 p.m. ET/PT) - A delightful exploration through the surprisingly creative universe of the eccentric artist, inventor, engineer and composer known as "Trimpin." Renowned in both contemporary music and artistic circles for his freewheeling sound sculptures and kinetic experiments, Trimpin allows the camera inside his quirky world of electronic and toy instruments, 60-foot guitar towers, perpetual motion sculpture and more, taking viewers on an entertaining journey filled with challenges, pitfalls and the sheer joy of creative experiment.
