Small Businesses Plagued by Mismanagement and Sluggish Sales in the Economic Downturn Receive Help From "Turnaround King" Grant Cardone

New National Geographic Channel Show Premiering June 19 Shows Cardone in Action

LOS ANGELES, June 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Businesses, large and small, have been hit hard as the U.S. economy continues to struggle. While some sectors are recovering better than others, many experts are expressing concern about the slowing economic recovery, as sales revenue continues to be sluggish at best. Across the board whether, real estate, automotive, consumer products, electronics, foodservice, travel industries or the like, it's up and down for most businesses, leaving some people with a lack of confidence.

The time is just right for Grant Cardone, an American entrepreneur and New York Times best-selling author of four books, who specializes in advising companies how to turnaround for success in today's economic climate. Cardone says, "The economy is problematic not 'the problem' - I can make any business successful, anytime, in any economy!" Grant's unique style of "tough love" and sharp business savvy will be on full display as part of National Geographic Channel's newest show, "Turnaround King," premiering June 19 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT in a two-part special profiling struggling businesses. A preview of the show can be found here: http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/turnaround-king/all/Overview.

In part one of the special, Cardone travels to Whippany, New Jersey to help the owners of a local gym get into better financial shape before they lose their business and possibly even their family home. Part two finds Cardone back in New Jersey to steer a faltering car dealership in Keyport off of a crash course leading toward financial ruin.

Cardone works closely with these companies, delivering exact strategies for creating immediate revenue and he shows companies how to do it without spending money. "The indications of a slowing economic recovery should be proof enough to Americans that they must take control of their own financial survival," said Cardone. "With 'Turnaround King,' National Geographic Channel has given me an opportunity to show on national TV what Americans must and can do to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and start to rebuild. These are real people, real businesses with real stakes on the line. We are literally turning around the US economy one business at a time."

The Conference Board's Confidence Index reports consumer confidence fell from 66 to 60.8 percent in April(1), leaving more Americans and companies troubled with fears of foreclosure, frozen credit, and debt. Standard & Poor's also reported a change in their outlook on the United States' sovereign debt.

"America has been told it has a debt problem, but a lack of revenue for families, companies and even the country, not just debt, is the real culprit," said Cardone. "For small businesses in particular, those in charge must understand what is required to begin generating revenue again in order to turn their companies around."

With 25 years of international sales and consulting expertise, Cardone has had many major successes in turnarounds for industries and businesses. National Geographic Channel launches the "Turnaround King" at a time when Americans are looking to navigate today's economy, uncertain if success is still possible.

"We think our viewers will gain new insight from Grant's way of getting to the root of a company's troubles and making immediate changes," said Michael Cascio, SVP of Production for National Geographic Channel. "The stories are extremely compelling and will appeal to a wide audience. Anyone working today can learn a thing or two from Grant on how to succeed."

"America is desperate for help," explains Cardone. "As soon as National Geographic Channel announced the premiere of this new show and released the trailers, my office received countless requests for assistance from business owners. To all those people, I say, "Bring it on! I am ready to get to work!"

Tune into the two-part special airing Sunday, June 19 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT and 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on National Geographic Channel.
