Oscar-Nominated Actor Gary Sinise to Launch Sinise Foundation at National Press Club, June 30

NPC to Host Advance Screening of Documentary "Lt. Dan Band: For the Common Good"

WASHINGTON, June 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Gary Sinise, who stars as Det. Mac Taylor in the CBS television series "CSI: New York," will announce the formation of The Gary Sinise Foundation at a National Press Club luncheon address on Thursday, June 30.

The Gary Sinise Foundation serves military service members, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need by supporting unique programs designed to entertain educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities. Sinise, who received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Lt. Dan in the Oscar-winning film "Forrest Gump," has also appeared in such films as "Apollo 13," "Ransom," "The Green Mile," and "The Human Stain."

Sinise is the subject of a feature-length film, "Lt. Dan Band: For the Common Good," which chronicles the actor and his band as they entertain troops at U.S. military bases worldwide. The National Press Club will host a private, press screening of the documentary at 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday, June 29. RSVP's are required to attend the screening by emailing reservations@press.org.

A recipient of the Presidential Citizens Medal, Sinise is the second actor, along with Elizabeth Taylor, to be awarded the honor. He has traveled numerous times with the USO to entertain U.S. troops Iraq and Afghanistan with the USO. Sinise is spokesperson for the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial Foundation and co-founder of Operation International Children

The National Press Club luncheon will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. Remarks will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session. Cost of luncheon admission is $18 for National Press Club members, and $29 for their guests. Tickets must be purchased at time of reservation.
