WDIV-TV Local 4 News Honored with Two 2011 Murrow Awards for Breaking News, Continuing Coverage

DETROIT, April 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- WDIV-TV Local 4 has been honored for excellence in journalism by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA). This marks the third year in a row in which WDIV has been recognized by the RTDNA, this year as a proud recipient of two coveted 2011 Edward R. Murrow Awards in the categories of Breaking News Coverage and Continuing News Coverage.

RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. The Edward R. Murrow Award is considered one of the most prestigious awards a news organization can achieve, embodying the spirit of excellence in journalism.

WDIV Local 4 News won the top awards in Region 7 of the large market TV category for Breaking News with live coverage of the Wayne furniture store explosion, and Continuing News for ongoing coverage of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. WDIV is proud to be the only station in Detroit market to receive 2011 Murrow Awards.
