For the first time - travel into the mysterious world of the Moche people of pre-Inca Peru with the most important archeological discovery of the late 20th century

NEW YORK, April 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --The wealth and glory of the mysterious pre-Incan, Moche people is brought to life in the new docudrama, El Senor de Sipan airing on national Spanish network, Vme on Friday, April 15 at 9:00pm(et/pt) and Sunday, April 17 at 9:00pm (et/pt).

Heralded by archeologists as the "the main archeological discovery in the Americas of the 20th century" El Senor de Sipan is a docudrama about the history of the Moche culture which developed on the northern coast of Peru between 100 BC and 600 AD, their rites and customs, and the discovery of the Lord of Sipan in the Huaca Rajada pyramid in 1987 by a small group of Peruvian archaeologists led by Dr. Walter Alva. The importance of this discovery is calling people to rewrite the history of this part of the world, since Peru's pre-Columbian history is still associated only to the Incas and Machu Picchu.

Airing on Vme's documentary series, Jorge Gestoso Investiga and hosted by Vme's award winning journalist, Jorge Gestoso, El Senor de Sipan takes viewers into the tomb and recreates the life of the Moche people and the days that led up to the death of the Lord of Sipan. Featuring interviews with Peruvian archeologist Dr. Walter Alva, who discovered the remains of the Lord of Sipan, and historical recreations with the leading roles played by famous Peruvian actors Reinaldo Arenas, Monica Sanchez and Augusto Varillas, who were accompanied by more than 300 extras, some of them believed to be descendants of the Moche people.

"El Senor de Sipan is a prime example of the rich and glorious treasures found throughoutLatin American history. The sophistication and complexity of the Moche culture, entombed until 1987, is brought to life in El Senor de Sipan and helps us appreciate the wealth of information still covered by the sands of time. By continuing touncover thepast we help shape Latino culture today," Jorge Gestoso, host of Vme's documentary program, Jorge Gestoso Investiga.

El Senor de Sipan is a co-produced by Vme with El Deseo, a Pedro Almodovar company, TVE and Explora Films. The film is directed by well-known Spanish filmmaker, Jose Manuel Novoa.
