AttendStar Creates iPhone, iPod Platform for Event Ticket Scanning, Onsite Sales

New handheld device sells and scans tickets

NASHVILLE, Tenn., April 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AttendStar.com takes the next step in online ticketing integration with new onsite ticket scanning technology. Event managers can sell tickets, take credit card payments and scan tickets with one central, easy-to-use and efficient system using the iPod Touch or iPhone 4.

"We wanted to create a better solution for ticket scanning that was available to everyone," said AttendStar owner Gary Bradshaw. The innovative POS system combines with a ticket-scanning platform using version three and above of the iPod Touch and iPhone 4 nestled in a Linea Pro case, similar in size to an OtterBox. Credit cards can be swiped on the back of the ergonomically designed handheld case and any 1D barcode can be read with the laser scanner at the top of the device.

The system connects with AttendStar events via wireless Internet or a cell phone network. The use of the system is free and comes standard with AttendStar events selling tickets online. Event managers are able to use their own devices or rent the full system out from AttendStar, in addition to back-up wireless configurations.

By scanning the 1D barcode on any standard AttendStar e-ticket, smartphone, thermal ticket or wristband, tickets can be read and authenticated in less than one second per ticket. Large event lines can still move quickly while event managers receive accurate audience counts and diminish ticket fraud. "QR code scanning through a smartphone's camera is great for smaller events," said Bradshaw, "but large events are more concerned with getting people in the gates quickly, and this system does just that." In addition, AttendStar is sending staff members out to qualifying events for onsite backup and support.

The AttendStar ticket scanning and purchasing interface has been simplified so non-tech savvy users will still be able to operate the devices with little training and minimal support. Multiple ticket scanners can be used simultaneously at several check-in points at the venue or location without having to be networked.

AttendStar is an online ticketing and event registration service created for event managers, by event managers. Anyone can start selling tickets to their event online with no setup costs and a flat-rate fee starting at $0.99 a ticket. AttendStar's goal is to help event managers sell out their events.
