WXYZ-TV Announces Annual Project Healthy Living

Campaign Runs from March 16 - May 21

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- PROJECT HEALTHY LIVING, sponsored by WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 and administered through the United Health Organization (UHO), will be take place March 16th through May 21st. Project Healthy Living features over 25 health screening sites in the City of Detroit and the counties of Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne. Project Healthy Living provides free or low-cost health screening test to individuals 18 and older. Free tests at all sites include basic screenings for height, weight, hypertension, body composition, vision and hearing.

Tests offered at sites for a nominal cost, include screenings for vitamin D deficiency, glucose levels, and the comprehensive 26-profile blood screening. Other low-cost health screenings measure participant's risk for H. Pylori, stroke, heart attack and low bone density. Participants will also be able to get flu and pneumonia shots at select sites. Lab services are provided by Quest Diagnostic Laboratories.

The United Health Organization recommends pre-registering for testing services at projecthealthyliving.net. Information on specific sites and tests is available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday, through the Project Healthy Living Hotline, (313) 531-9108 or on wxyz.com.

Each year over 10,000 screening and counseling services are administered through the project.
