Scripps Names Independent-Mail Leader
CINCINNATI, Feb. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael G. Jameson, a newspaper executive with more than 30 years of advertising and sales experience, has been named the publisher of the Anderson Independent-Mail.
Jameson, 55, joins the Independent-Mail from Tucson Newspapers -- a partnership owned by The Gannett Company and Lee Enterprises -- where he was president and chief executive officer for six years.
Jameson begins his new role Feb. 21.

Jameson began his newspaper career in 1979 as an advertising representative at the Gloucester (Massachusetts) Daily Times. He has held advertising and sales-related leadership roles at the Rockingham County (New Hampshire) Newspapers, Hartford Courant and Louisville Courier-Journal.
In 1993, Jameson joined Madison Newspapers where he eventually became the vice president and general manager. In 2000, he assumed the role of president for River Valley Newspaper Group and publisher of the La Crosse (Wisconsin) Tribune until moving to the Tucson Newspapers. Under his leadership, the River Valley Newspaper Group in La Crosse was recognized as "Enterprise of the Year" by Lee Enterprises in 2002.
He is a board and executive committee member of the Greater Tucson Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board of the Greater Tucson United Way and Greater Metropolitan Convention and Visitor's Bureau. Additionally, Jameson is a member of the Council of Trustees for TREO (Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities) and a member of the Southern Arizona Leadership Council.
Jameson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts. He and his wife, Pam, have two daughters, Shannon and Haley.
