The Fender Music Foundation awards grants in the form of musical instruments and equipment to music education programs across America. In the past few years, the foundation has awarded 124 grants to music classrooms, after-school music programs and music therapy programs. Through these organizations, the foundation has directly reached over 35,000 people, including thousands of at-risk youth. In addition to a chance at stardom and to win cash, singers can learn to become better performers and improve their marketing efforts as independent artists through the SimpleSuperStar.com educational resources. Singers can also build their fan bases and sell their music from the site.
