Tireless Touring Phenomenon Liquid Blue Scores a Direct Hit on the Billboard Singles Chart and Receives a Guinness World Record

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- They've played the hit songs of other artists for more than 15 years, but now Liquid Blue has a Billboard hit themselves with "Earth Passport." The song recently reached #3 on the Billboard Hot Dance Singles Chart and also received a Guinness World Record for "Song Sung in the Most Languages."

Averaging almost 200 shows per year, Liquid Blue is one of the most popular "dance bands" in the world and hold a second world record for playing in over 100 countries (114 to date) but until recently had never cracked the Top 40 charts. "We've made our living performing covers but we always believed we could write a hit song ourselves," says band founder and vocalist Scott Stephens, a former professional Roller Derby skater with the Los Angeles Thunderbirds before forming Liquid Blue in 1996.

Earth Passport is a song about world unity & peace and features vocals in nine languages. Having logged more flight time than almost any band in history, Liquid Blue brings a unique world perspective to their songwriting. All proceeds from Earth Passport are being donated to the "Peace Alliance," a non-profit organization. The group was "certified GREEN" in 2009, likely becoming the first green band in the country.

While relatively unknown in the United States, Liquid Blue learned to sing in the Mandarin language and was one of the first foreign acts to have success in the emerging Chinese market. As early as 2002 the band had performed sold-out shows of upwards of 65,000 in China and was invited to perform at the 2008 CCTV Summer Olympics Kick-Off concert in Beijing. Singer Nikki Green, who just this year became the first American ever to qualify for the finals of MN (Taiwanese) Idol, states, "We've been on a ten-year road trip. The travel has been amazing but it's nice to finally have a hit in the USA."

Former Liquid Blue band member BC Jean was recently signed by Clive Davis and has a new hit song out on Jive Records called "Just a Guy."
