Michigan Based Scenic Prop and Design Rises to the Top by Forming Relationship with National Film, TV and Stage Union
MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., Jan. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Hollywood has come knocking for Michigan based Scenic Prop and Design. The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employes, or I.A.T.S.E., has announced that it has officially formed a manufacturing relationship with Scenic Prop and Design that will make the Madison Heights based company the only manufacturer in Michigan producing custom prop and scenery applications for set production and application.
I.A.T.S.E. is a highly respected labor union representing technicians, artisans and craftspersons in the entertainment industry, including live theatre, motion picture and television production, and trade shows.
"We are pleased that we have been able to organize Scenic Prop and Design," said I.A.T.S.E. Local 38 Business Representative, Cal Hazelbaker. "Their product is top notch and we are certain that filmmakers will be pleased with the high quality that Scenic Prop and Design puts out on a regular basis," said Hazelbaker.
Jonathan Krueger, president and founder of Scenic Prop and Design Scenic has developed specific formulas that I.A.T.S.E. members will help produce from lightweight brick, stone, and tree bark applications to custom effects for film, television and stage.
The alliance was developed between officers at I.A.T.S.E, along with Scenic Prop and Design managing partners Jack Grushko and Mort Meisner, who also own the Center for Film Studies based in Madison Heights.
Meisner added, "I.A.T.S.E holds the national contract for Film, TV and Stage, so this incredible association will further develop a manufacturing base here in Michigan and give the necessary infrastructure to supply the Michigan Film Industry."
It's a win-win for everyone as the agreement between the two will create a significant volume of manufacturing jobs because of the fact that Hollywood will be even more motivated to hire trained Michigan workers with the Michigan Film Tax Credit incentive.
Scenic Prop and Design manufacturing facilities are located in Macomb County - Michigan and can be reached by calling 313-429-5900.
