Luster's® Pink® Brand Smooth Touch® Spokeswoman LeToya Luckett Spreads Holiday Cheer to Chicago Students, Hospital Patients and Fans

R&B Artist Inspires Girls at Young Women's Leadership Charter School, Hosts Toy Drive Nightclub Event Benefiting LaRabida Children's Hospital on Dec. 16

CHICAGO, Dec. 22, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Grammy®-winning singer-songwriter and actress LeToya Luckett spent a whirlwind day in the Windy City on Thursday, Dec. 16, making holiday-related stops around town as the spokesperson for Luster's Pink® Brand Smooth Touch® hair products. Luckett--a platinum-selling solo artist and former member of the legendary group Destiny's Child--first made a surprise afternoon visit to the Young Women's Leadership Charter School (YWLCS) in Bronzeville, offering words of encouragement and inspiration to its Honor Roll students. The only all-girls public school in Chicago, YWLCS draws its 344 students from 30 city communities and ranks first among Chicago's 77 public high schools in the percentage of students entering college or post-secondary education.

"Education first," implored Luckett, a Houston native and former Honor Roll student who was warmly greeted by the students when she made her surprise entrance. "Understand that you're going to need, especially in these times, a Plan A, a Plan B, and a Plan C. So make sure you keep those grades up."

Later that evening, Luckett hosted "A Smooth Touch® Holiday Affair & Toy Drive" at The Shrine nightclub (2109 S. Wabash). Guests were encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for patients at LaRabida Children's Hospital. During the night, hundreds of toys were collected for the South Side institution, which treats youngsters with chronic illness and/or developmental disabilities. Luckett and legendary rapper Doug E. Fresh shared the stage for a lively special performance, with Luckett singing her chart-topping solo hit "Regret." While onstage, she asked the hip-hop star to "teach me how to 'Dougie'"--a reference to the hot dance that bears his name and which was popularized this year by Cali Swag District's platinum-selling single.
