Armed Forces Insurance Sponsors Post-Game Concert: Gary Sinise and The Lieutenant Dan Band Honor Wounded Warriors With Armed Forces Bowl Performance

LEAVENWORTH, Kan., Dec. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Football fans at this year's Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl will enjoy a free performance by Gary Sinise and The Lieutenant Dan Band, courtesy of Armed Forces Insurance (www.afi.org). The concert will take place in the Bowl's Armed Forces Adventure Area immediately following the game on December 30.

In addition to the concert, up to 35 wounded warriors participating in Rehabbing with the Troops, a special rehabilitation program sponsored by AFI, will participate in an interactive "NFL Training Camp" gaming event with fans at the AFI booth in the Adventure Area from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. on game day. All fans attending the Bowl are welcome to participate in the gaming event with the wounded warriors, according to Col. Tom Dials (U.S. Army, Ret.), chairman of AFI.

"More than 32,000 fans are expected to attend the game, so we're looking forward to a spirited crowd helping us honor our troops, and especially the wounded warriors, with this special concert and gaming event," Dials said. "It's the perfect way to let our service members know we support them."

This is the third year AFI has served as the title partner for the Armed Forces Adventure Area, a festival designed specifically to celebrate military service. In addition to the concert and gaming event, the Adventure Area will feature military equipment and hardware, as well as numerous interactive displays from all branches of the military and corporate partners, including concert co-sponsor Armed Forces Benefits Association (AFBA, www.afba.com). The Adventure Area, which is located in the Westcott parking lot directly north of Ford Stadium, is free of charge and will be open prior to kickoff from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m., and again immediately following the game until 5:00 p.m.

Sinise's band takes its name from "Lieutenant Dan," the wounded warrior the actor portrayed in the 1994 film Forrest Gump. Military members everywhere recognize and strongly identify with Sinise as "Lieutenant Dan," making the name a natural choice for the band. The Lieutenant Dan Band covers a wide variety of popular music from classics to contemporary, and plays an average of 40 shows annually, with 75 percent of those for the United Service Organizations (USO), military charities or other benefits. Since 2004, Gary Sinise and The Lieutenant Dan Band have partnered with the USO to perform on tour for American military serving overseas. To learn more, visit www.ltdanband.com.
