Bladder Health Organizations to Be Featured in a Documentary Airing on Lifetime

CHICAGO, Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Accidental Sisterhood and Women's Health Foundation team up to create a breakthrough documentary uncovering the many challenges and solutions related to bladder control.

Women's Health Foundation's (WHF) founder, Missy Lavender and Dr. Ray Bologna, Co-Creator of The Accidental Sisterhood will be featured in "Defining Moments" airing on Lifetime and Lifetime Women November 20th( )and 27th( )at 7 a.m. EST; 6 a.m. CST.

The show focuses on three women with bladder control problems and their journeys back to healthy, vibrant lives. The women share their unique "Defining Moment," when they seek treatment, find community, and overcome the challenges of years of embarrassment and silent struggles. "We are proud to be part of this show which celebrates the possibility of taking control of your bladder and pelvic health," said Lavender. "Our part of the show highlights the need for behavioral options such as appropriate exercise, education and physical therapy to help women with bladder control issues," she added.

Since 2004, WHF has created unique, community-based, exercise and educational programs for all women combining a specialized fitness program with an educational component involving bladder and pelvic anatomy, nutrition and lifestyle tips to prevent manage or alleviate bladder symptoms.

The Accidental Sisterhood offers women education on frequently misunderstood pelvic floor health issues like overactive bladder (OAB), incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, uterine fibroids and menorrhagia. Their mission is to promote health education and therapeutic initiatives for women, with special emphasis on improving female pelvic floor health through conservative, non-invasive therapies as a first line of treatment.
