How Your Health Care Is About to Change

How Your Health Care Is About to Change

CHICAGO, Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With the landscape of health care changing rapidly, having medical insurance and access to a doctor are not enough to ensure that you and your loved ones are getting the best possible medical care. That's true whether you have to be admitted into the hospital, as a recent government report on medical error found, or whether you're simply seeing your doctor in his or her office.

The live, call-in program Community Health will highlight how national health reform and local initiatives in the Chicago area are starting to change the way health care is delivered. Whether it's new deadlines for Medicare patients or new provider report cards telling you which hospital has the lowest infections or the most satisfied patients, important changes are underway that require patients and their advocates to be proactive in response.

The show will air on Monday, November 22 at 6:00 p.m. on Chicago Access Network (CAN-TV), Channel 21. Host Lenore Janecek, president and founder of SAVE THE PATIENT, and Michael L. Millenson, president of Health Care Quality Advisors LLC and critically acclaimed author of Demanding Medical Excellence: Doctors and Accountability in the Information Age, will discuss actions patients can take to make certain the care they receive is as effective and safe as possible.

Viewers are encouraged to join in the program by calling-in their questions about patient advocacy and health care reform.
