Balloons Fly Over Poteau, OK's Highest Hill (In The U. S.)
6th Annual hot air balloon festival October 22 and 23 features live bands
POTEAU, Okla., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Over 20 hot air balloons will take to the skies over Poteau, Okla.'s Cavanal Hill, the highest hill in the U.S., Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23. Most activities will be located at Robert S. Kerr Airport, 1900 Airport Road in Poteau.
Poteau Mayor Shockley said, "This is the greatest annual event here in Poteau because we draw huge crowds not only from Oklahoma but our neighbors in Arkansas and Texas. Participating balloons come from all over the Southwest Region and at $3 or $5 a person for 2 days families can have a wonderful time enjoying all Poteau has to offer and more."

Magnificent Balloon Glows each night at dusk. Bring a blanket/lawn chair to enjoy.
This year's feature entertainment will be "HAPPY AEROBATICS" in which an acrobatic pilot pulls some major G's on both Friday and Saturday! And "THE MEAN MACHINE" will be back by popular demand! This hummer monster truck will be giving rides!
There will be a candy drop from a helicopter to celebrate Halloween.
Friday, October 22 events begin at 4:00 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m. Saturday the event begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m. The carnival will stay open both nights until 10:00 p.m.
Admission is $5 at the gate or advance armbands for the Balloonfest can be purchased at Days Inn & Suites-Poteau for $3. Your armband is admission for both days.
Parking is free and if you do not want to park at the airport, a shuttle will be provided from Carl Albert State College to the airport. In the event of rain, all parking will be at Carl Albert and the shuttle service will be used.
