Assisting Venus to Screen at LA Femme Film Festival Thursday, October 14th

Michael Steger, Jordan Bridges and Julian Sands join feisty newcomer Michele Martin in a unique love story with a twist

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Assisting Venus, an alternative love story directed by Charles Huddleston, will screen at the 6th Annual LA Femme Film Festival, Thursday, October 14 at 4pm. The film, written by actress Michele Martin and Huddleston, recently won the Award of Excellence at the Accolade Film Competition. Martin also stars in the film, alongside 90210's Michael Steger, Rizzoli & Isles' Jordan Bridges and Julian Sands.

Assisting Venus is an offbeat love story based loosely on Masoch's novel Venus in Furs. Greg Severin (Steger), a lonely computer nerd stuck in post-college purgatory, has recently quit his job and is looking for a more interesting line of work. When a mysterious and beautiful young novelist, Sophia LaCosta (Martin), moves next door, Greg soon finds himself obsessed with her. Sophia takes note of Greg's attention and even though he is shy and awkward, she sees an opportunity to mold him into the perfect assistant. Having just moved from Europe and commissioned to write her second novel, she offers Greg the job. After he accepts employment from Sophia, his life radically changes; she teaches him the art of pleasing a woman, introducing Greg to romantic culture, food, wine, literature and other pleasures. He begins to realize his desire to fully submit to a dominant woman and his life is forever changed by the experience.

Huddleston graduated from Miami University (of Ohio) with a degree in Systems Analysis focusing on Mass Communication. He was recruited to perform, write and direct live Star Trek shows and appearances across the U.S. and U.K. and was an original cast member of Star Trek: The Experience in Las Vegas. Assisting Venus is his first feature film; his second, an over-the-top comedy entitled Dadgum, Texas, completed principal photography in July.

Martin, a classically trained actress, studied at the American Conservatory Theatre. Since childhood, she has performed in regional theatre across the country. She is also the author of the children's books "Business Blair" and "Business Blair in Paris," available through major booksellers in the U.S. and U.K. Assisting Venus marks her feature film acting debut.

"I'm very proud to have the Los Angeles premiere of Assisting Venus at LA Femme," Huddleston said. "This movie is about a strong woman who knows what she wants out of life and isn't afraid to demand it, so it is at home in a festival that celebrates that spirit."

The LA Femme Film Festival, now in its sixth year, runs October 14- 17, 2010. Assisting Venus will screen at the Davidson Valentini Theater, The Village at Ed Gould Plaza in Hollywood on Thursday, October 14 at 4PM. Tickets for the festival can be purchased online at http://www.LAFemme.org or at the box office.
