Reeperbahn Festival Hamburg Rocks Former Red Light District

Reeperbahn Festival Hamburg Rocks Former Red Light District

HAMBURG, September 20, 2010/PRNewswire/ -- The world famous Reeperbahn in Hamburg, Germany, is the place where the
Beatles started their overwhelming career 50 years ago. And this once wicked
mile, which turned into an entertainment boulevard during the last two
decades, is still a European hotspot for music. Because this week, for the
fifth time, Germany's biggest Club Festival, the Reeperbahn Festival, takes
place in Hamburg St. Pauli -"Germany's most creative neighborhood", so the
festival claims.

On September 23rd, the Reeperbahn Festival and the Reeperbahn Campus,
Germany's most important event of the music and live-entertainment industry,
will be officially declared open. The enthusiastic audience will witness the
hottest up-and-coming bands from all around the globe, embedded in the
matchless setting of Germany's music metropolis, Hamburg. The Festival hosts
till Saturday more than 180 international bands and solo artists in more than
30 clubs and theaters. The business conference "Reeperbahn Campus" has, in
its second year, just doubled in size with 70 panels and events, where 150
speakers from 20 nations will discuss the future of the music industry in
front of some 2000 attendants.

While the Reeperbahn has turned into an entertainment boulevard during
the last 20 years, the Reeperbahn Festival revives the good old days of the
district by adding clubs to its roster of venues like the "Indra" and
"Moondoo" (formerly Top Ten) of Beatles-fame, and even the old St. Pauli
Church. This is where handpicked fresh talent from all around the world will
play, spiced up by some really big names like Edwyn Collins or "Soul Machine"
Cee-Lo. Additionally the "Big Nordic Music Affair" brings more than 50
Scandinavian bands and artists to the festival, e.g. Norwegian pop star Marit
Larsen, Swedish guitar-drum-duo Johnossi and JUNIP, singer-songwriter Jose
Gonzalez' newest project.

Add the unparalleled scenery of the Reeperbahn, Hamburg's port-district
and adjacent neighborhoods like the Karoviertel and the Schanze with hip
stores, bars / restaurants and you will experience The Reeperbahn Festival,
the highlight of this summer's music festival season.
