Jon Stewart Announces 'Rally To Restore Sanity' in Washington, DC on Saturday, October 30
NEW YORK, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- On last night's show, Jon Stewart made the earth-shattering announcement that he will hold the "Rally To Restore Sanity" in Washington, DC on Saturday, October 30 (location TBA). All reasonable people are welcome. View the announcement here: http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-september-16-2010/rally-to-restore-sanit y
An official proclamation can be found at www.rallytorestoresanity.com. Here's an excerpt:
"Ours is a rally for the people who've been too busy to go to rallies, who actually have lives and families and jobs (or are looking for jobs) -- not so much the Silent Majority as the Busy Majority. If we had to sum up the political view of our participants in a single sentence... we couldn't. That's sort of the point. Think of our event as Woodstock, but with the nudity and drugs replaced by respectful disagreement; the Million Man March, only a lot smaller, and a bit less of a sausage fest; or the Gathering of the Juggalos, but instead of throwing our feces at Tila Tequila, we'll be actively *not* throwing our feces at Tila Tequila. Join us in the shadow of the Washington Monument. And bring your indoor voice. Or don't. If you'd rather stay home, go to work, or drive your kids to soccer practice... Actually, please come anyway. Ask the sitter if she can stay a few extra hours, just this once. We'll make it worth your while."
As previously announced, "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" will be in Washington, DC to broadcast "When Grizzlies Attack: The Daily Show Midterm Teapartyganza," a week of shows as part of its ongoing "Indecision 2010" coverage of the fiercely contested midterm elections. The special episodes, which will air nightly at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT from Monday, October 25 through Thursday, October 28, will feature news and analysis on heated races across the country from host Jon Stewart as well as reports from "The Daily Show" News Team (Samantha Bee, Wyatt Cenac, Jason Jones, Aasif Mandvi and John Oliver).
