HBO Receives 25 Primetime Emmy® Awards

HBO received the most awards of any network; "The Pacific" leads all programming with 8 Emmys®

SAO PAULO and LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- HBO® received 25 Primetime Emmy® Awards, the most of any network at the 62nd Primetime Emmy® Awards Show, which took place Sunday night in Los Angeles.

The miniseries, "The Pacific," headlined the list of awarded programming, with 8 Emmys®, while the HBO® original made-for-TV film, "Temple Grandin," was awarded 7, and "The 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert" received 3 awards.

Among the recognitions, HBO led the list with 17 Creative Arts® Emmys, from which "The Pacific" received 7 statuettes and "Temple Grandin" received 2.

The awards the network received this year reflect the quality of original programming offered by HBO and the variety of its television series, movies, and special documentaries which range from drama and science fiction to comedy, romance, and suspense, among other genres.

HBO's 2010 Emmy® award-winning productions are as follows:

-- 8 Emmys® for "The Pacific," including Outstanding Miniseries;
Outstanding Casting for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special; Outstanding
Art Direction for a Miniseries or Movie; and Outstanding Special
Visual Effects for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special.
-- 7 Emmys® for "Temple Grandin," including Outstanding Made for
Television Movie; Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie
(Claire Danes); Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a
Movie (David Strathairn); Outstanding Supporting Actress in a
Miniseries or a Movie (Julia Ormond); and Outstanding Directing for a
Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special (Mick Jackson).
-- 3 Emmys® for "The 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Concert," including Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video
Control for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special.
-- 2 Emmys® for "You Don't Know Jack," including Outstanding Lead Actor
in a Miniseries or a Movie (Al Pacino) and Outstanding Writing for a
Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special (Adam Mazer).

Other HBO programs recognized by the Emmy® Awards were: "By the People: The Election of Barack Obama" for Outstanding Picture Editing for Nonfiction Programming; "Teddy: In His Own Words" for Outstanding Nonfiction Special; "Bored to Death" for Outstanding Main Title Design, "The Ricky Gervais Show" for Individual Achievement in Animation: Character Design; and "Entourage" for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation.

As part of HBO Latin America's programming, the series "Mad Men" was also awarded 4 Emmys® including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series (Matthew Weiner and Erin Levy) and Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series.
