Charismatic, charming and complex, Sergio Vieira de Mello was
the U.N.'s "go-to" guy. He could descend into the most
dangerous places, charm the worst war criminals and somehow
protect the lives of the ordinary people to whom he devoted
his life. A humanitarian of the highest order, his long
career brought him to hot spots like Swaziland, Cambodia and
East Timor, earning him praise for his hands-on work inside
nations in crisis. SERGIO debuts on Thursday, May 6 (8 p.m.
