Chrome to Host Charitable Event: Third Annual Music Festival ChromeLive! Is Home to World's Largest TOMS Shoes Event
LUBBOCK, Texas, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Shoes are the staple of many fashionable wardrobes. Chrome is putting a charitable twist on fashion Saturday (April 24th) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. as it hosts its third annual event that makes buying shoes truly good for the sole.
ChromeLive! Music Festival is the largest TOMS "Style Your Sole" event worldwide, according to Blake Mycoskie, owner and Chief Shoe Giver at TOMS. Chrome, a contemporary fashion-forward retail store, offers hard-to-find designer labels in categories that include: apparel, footwear, and apothecary. As a national host for TOMS "Style Your Sole" event, Chrome will produce a music-filled day taking place in the store's parking lot, located at 2601 19th Street. Tickets are $10 per person, or free if individuals pre-purchase a pair of TOMS canvas shoes at Chrome or at http://www.shopchrome.com/.
Tickets are available at all select-a-seat outlets in Lubbock and online. TOMS shoes also will be available for purchase at the event, and for each pair purchased, TOMS shoes will donate a second pair to children in need of shoes. Last year's event gave nearly 1,000 new pairs of TOMS to those in need.
Highlighting the music festival is RCA Records' indie-rock legend Ben Kweller. A favorite headliner at Austin City Limits (ACL), Kweller will be making his first highly anticipated visit to Lubbock. Also performing will be veteran ACL rock band, Nelo, of Dallas, South by Southwest (SxSW) rockers The Orbans of Ft. Worth, and Lubbock's own Thriftstore Cowboys, Spivey and Estelline.
"We are very pleased with the music line-up this year. Kiko Velez, our event planner, has a knack for booking the next big act. ChromeLive! played host to Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights the past two years," said Stephen Spiegelberg of Chrome. "Look at these guys now ... opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, House of Blues and Bonnaroo. This year's event will exceed expectations, I am very sure of it."
Spiegelberg added, "Ticket sales have been brisk, which we equate to the affordable ticket price for so many great bands. It's a $10 pass to a show that most festivals would charge $60 a ticket. We're excited to bring all of them here for a good cause - for only a $10 entrance fee or a free ticket with a purchased pair of TOMS shoes for the event. It's all in the name of what TOMS stands behind, 'A one-for-one mission.'"
During the April 24th music festival, the parking lot will be filled with tables of beads, buttons, paints and other arrays of complimentary decorations for individuals to sit and design their own unique pair of TOMS right on the spot.
"Each year, TOMS 'Style Your Sole' event stops all over the country in a grassroots effort to help children in need," Spiegelberg explained. "But Chrome is honored to have the biggest event world-wide each year. And I know once again, we'll have the Texas giving spirit that will come and support children in need. Fans from all over Texas came in for last year's show. The same is expected for this 2010 event with confirmations coming from California to New York and even as far away as New Zealand. "
National representatives from TOMS will also assist during the day's festivities. Recent reports show that Chrome is one of the single largest independent dealers of TOMS shoes in the country - already providing more than 10,000 children in need with their first pair of shoes.
Even after clearing TOMS warehouse of all available shoes for the event, quantities have become limited due to hundreds of pre-orders and a national spotlight put on the ChromeLive! music festival. "We encourage people to pre-purchase their TOMS as soon as possible to ensure they have a pair to decorate. We anticipate the largest crowd to date at ChromeLive!, the nation's hippest charity event," Spiegelberg said.
