The Whitney & the DSO Join Forces for Detroit's Best New Year's Eve Party

DETROIT, Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Ringing in the New Year promises to be extra special with great music and warm feelings at The Whitney this year, as musicians from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) bring their talents and passion for music to all three floors of the iconic Detroit landmark restaurant.

DSO musicians playing piano, violin and harp, will entertain during three dinner seatings and "The People's Choice," an internationally known variety band, featuring guest vocalist DaZee Love, will step it up with contemporary dance music from 10:30 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. A champagne toast will celebrate the midnight hour both in the Great Hall on the first floor and in the intimate Ghostbar on the third floor where DJs Sam and Maria Thomas will hold court.

"We think everybody in Detroit is more than ready to bid good riddance to 2009 and celebrate the start of a new and hopefully much better year in 2010," said Bud Liebler, owner of The Whitney. "This will be an elegant yet fun and upbeat event with 20 percent of the proceeds going back to the DSO at a time when they really need the help. Our guests can enjoy a great evening, celebrate the New Year and have the chance to give back to one of Detroit's premier cultural institutions."

Guests will have a choice of three seatings (5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.) for an elegant five course dinner with wine pairings. There will also be an exclusive "after party" with premium bar, hors d'ouvres, champagne toast, entertainment and dancing starting at 10:30 p.m. Cost for the 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. five course dinner will be $100 per person or guests can receive a discounted package for the 9 p.m. seating for dinner and the after party for $150 per person. Cost of the after party only is $65. Tax and gratuity are additional.
