Anchor Bay Australia Promotes Marilyn Greig to New Managing Director as Longtime Head John Vale Retires

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Anchor Bay Entertainment, a global leader in home entertainment distribution of independent feature films and home entertainment product, announced a changing of the guard at its Australia division, with the promotion of Marilyn Greig as new Managing Director of Anchor Bay Australia, and the retirement of current MD John Vale. The announcement was made today by Anchor Bay Entertainment Worldwide President Bill Clark and will become effective January 15th, 2010.

"For the past four years, Marilyn Greig has been an integral part of the success and growth of Anchor Bay Australia," said Clark. "Under John Vale's tutelage, Marilyn's promotion is a natural transition, and we know that our Australian division will continue to succeed under Marilyn's direction. At the same time, we acknowledge Vale's stewardship of our Australia office, and his years of service in growing the brand internationally. He will be truly missed."

With Greig taking over the reins, she builds on her success that started in 2002, when she joined Imagine Entertainment as Marketing Director. Her previous work includes marketing positions at such prestigious, global entertainment concerns as Virgin Vision Australia and Village Roadshow Corporation.

"Marilyn is the natural successor to the role of Managing Director, Anchor Bay Australia," commented Vale. "Marilyn has played a major role in developing our team and forging our ties with Roadshow in New Zealand. She has been instrumental in our growth and is well respected within the industry and by all at Anchor Bay. I could not leave the Australian operation in better hands."

Vale's incomparable history with Anchor Bay Australia can be traced literally to the beginnings of the home entertainment industry itself, when he was appointed to launch a new video division for K-tel International, releasing their first VHS rental package in Australia in 1983. In 1989, he launched his own label, the award-winning RocVale Film. The company became the longest standing independent video distributor in the territory. Then in 2001, he launched Imagine Entertainment with a focus on all rights distribution taking their first theatrical release, cult hit "Donnie Darko", to a $1 million box office. In 2005, Imagine became Anchor Bay in Australia/New Zealand and moved into direct retail distribution.

"Without doubt, the real highlights of my time in the industry have been the people, all of those I've had the privilege to work with as well as many friends at licensor level, our customers and many others in the Industry," remarked Vale. "It is the people who make us who we are and there are some great people in this Industry. The Australian team we have built at Anchor Bay is just sensational, and I will miss the day-to-day contact with everyone."
