The Partnership for a Drug-Free America Announces Winners of National Annual Media Recognition Awards

-Organization Honors Outstanding Pro Bono Support in Digital, Print and Broadcast-

NEW YORK, Dec. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Partnership for a Drug-Free America today announced the recipients of its second annual Media Recognition Awards, given in honor of outstanding pro bono support of the Partnership's public service campaigns in national print, broadcast and digital media.

The Partnership has built the longest running single issue pro bono public education campaign in history. Created in 1986 by the American Association of Advertising Agencies, the Partnership continues to operate on a pro bono model. Creative talent for Partnership campaigns is donated by advertising agencies, the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and all messages run in donated media time and space.

The Partnership is committed to providing parents and caregivers with the tools, expert advice and resources they need to prevent drug and alcohol abuse among their children, or get help for a child in trouble. The Partnership reaches millions of families each year through educational campaigns distributed and supported by the media at the national and local levels throughout the country.

"The success of Partnership campaigns, and the resulting reduction in drug abuse, is one of the greatest examples of the power and generosity of the media industry in support of a critical family health issue," said Jack Irving, Media Director the Partnership. "In spite of difficult economic times, it is the extraordinary commitment of our media partners that ensures parents and teens see and hear the Partnership's messages, and know where to turn for help and information. We're proud to honor the national-level winners of the Media Recognition Award for their standout support and dedication."

The winners of the Partnership's National Media Recognition Awards for outstanding pro bono support in 2008 are:

Digital: Burst Media; CafeMom; 24/7 Real Media; Razorfish; Valueclick Media

Print: New York Magazine; Hearst Magazines; Time Inc.; American Media; Bonnier Corporation; Meredith Corporation

Broadcast: Comcast; CBS Television Network; CNN/Headline News; Fox Broadcasting Company, UNIVISION; VH1 Television Network
