Indigo Planet Records Announces CD Compilation, Series of Awareness Showcases to Benefit 'Invisible Children'

Eclectic Mix of Contributing Artists; Showcases in NYC, L.A., and Fla.

NEW YORK, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- A number of nationally known, and up-and-coming, artists have signed on to contribute tracks on behalf of Indigo Planet Records to support the internationally known non-profit organization and movement "Invisible Children." In addition, IPR is sponsoring benefit concerts in three major cities, featuring artists from the CD.

"We are very excited by the dedication of so many great artists who answered the call when we approached them about helping out this important cause," says Dave Kosciolek, President of Indigo Planet Records. "We wanted a group of artists that could reach the widest possible audience to create awareness for Invisible Children, and we believe we compiled just the right mix."

Many of the artists are contributing unreleased tracks, while several others went into the studio to record songs just for this project. Among the 15 artists featured on the CD (titled "Njagala ennyimba - Songs for the Invisible Children") include Chris Barron (Spin Doctors), Ellen Foley, Matisyahu guitarist Aaron Dugan, 2007 American Idol semi-finalist Alaina Alexander, IPR recording artist Travis Tooke (For Squirrels, Subrosa), Larry Kirwan (Black 47), and additional IPR artists Tina Vero and Samantha Lu.

Along with the CD, three Awareness and CD Release Parties are scheduled: October 2nd at NYC's Canal Room (featuring Ellen Foley), October 7th at L.A.'s Viper Room (featuring Alaina Alexander), and November 14th at Saint Augustine's Cafe Eleven (featuring Alaina Alexander and Travis Tooke). The "Invisible Children Roadies" will make a special appearance in NYC and L.A.

Among artists lending their support to this project is Grammy Nominee Sophie B. Hawkins. Hawkins added: "Every child that gets the chance to heal themselves from abuse, and takes it, is a healer for the world. Let's give these children the chance."

"It's really amazing to see such an eclectic group of artists come together in an effort to really raise the banner for these kids in Uganda. IPR is doing an amazing job linking the music community to this emergency situation in Uganda," said Kenny Laubbacher, Director of Artist Relations for Invisible Children, Inc.

The CD is available now for the special price of $10 at http://www.indigoplanetrecords.com/.

About Invisible Children - Invisible Children launched in 2003, with the exposition of the tragic realities of northern Uganda's night commuters and child soldiers. The mission has since expanded to other war-affected regions, focused on long-term development, working directly with individuals and institutions that are eager to realize their full potential. Through education and innovative economic opportunities, Invisible Children partners with affected communities, and strives to improve the quality of life for individuals living in conflict and post-conflict regions.

About Indigo Planet Records - Originally launched in 2005 with the release of April Smith's (Perez Hilton, Lollapalooza 2009) debut CD "loveletterbombs," IPR has been represented at SXSW, CMJ Music Marathon, nationally in Billboard and Justine Magazines, and label showcases at several leading clubs throughout the country. Among the four IPR releases scheduled for 2009 are the "Invisible Children" compilation, the debut CD by Lettuce Olive (featuring Travis Tooke of For Squirrels and Subrosa fame), and the re-release of Tina Vero's critically acclaimed CD "In the Waiting."
