Gather Around the Table With the Ingalls Clan as TV Land and CASA* Celebrate Family Day - A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children(TM) - On Monday, September 28th

NEW YORK, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- TV Land is celebrating Family Day - A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children(TM) with The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University for the fifth consecutive year on Monday, September 28th by showcasing a very special episode of the popular classic "Little House On The Prairie." This year, TV Land is continuing to honor the network tradition of dedicating the supper-time slot of 6:00pm (ET/PT) to a family-themed series. Additionally, September 2009 marks the 35th Anniversary of this Emmy Award-winning show. Family Day is the opportunity for the network to encourage and remind families of the importance of time spent dining together. Family-time dining together is vital because more than a decade of CASA research shows that the more often children eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use drugs.

"Little House on the Prairie is a perfect show to air in honor of Family Day," states Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land. "It is a family favorite and embodies positive qualities and principles that are still relevant today and an ideal choice for a day meant to promote togetherness."

"We are delighted to once again have the support of TV Land for Family Day to remind Americans about the importance of family dinners," said Joseph A. Califano, Jr., CASA Founder and Chairman and former U.S. Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare. "Over the past decade and a half of surveying thousands of American teens and their parents, we've learned that the more often children have dinner with their parents, the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use drugs. I urge parents to arrange their schedules and the outside activities so that they can have frequent family dinners. If they do so, they'll discover what a difference dinner makes."
