FreeWave Introduces New Modular Expansion Board for IO

Expansion Module expands the number of IO points to meet customers' growing and changing network requirements and is compatible with all FreeWave radios

BOULDER, Colo., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- FreeWave Technologies, (http://www.freewave.com/), manufacturer of the most reliable, high-performance spread spectrum and licensed radios for critical data transmission, today introduced the IO Expansion Module. The new Expansion Module is compatible with most FreeWave radio products and offers a scalable solution -- with 12 IO points per module and up to 192 IO points per a 16 module stack -- to meet the demands of customers' wireless automation requirements. By integrating the Expansion Module to an existing FreeWave Modbus network, customers can readily expand the IO count of their Modbus network without the cost of having to add individual radios to meet the IO count requirements.

FreeWave's IO Expansion Module either may be stacked on an applicable FreeWave radio or serve as an expandable remote module through a serial connection. Up to 16 modules can be stacked on the radio or base module. Class 1 Division 2 approved, the new Expansion Module adds significant flexibility to an existing FreeWave Modbus IO network.

"Industrial designers, engineers, oil and gas producers will appreciate the ease in which they can easily modify or add to their existing IO network count at a fraction of the cost of traditionally adding more radios," explained Ken Granader, vice president of sales and spokesperson at FreeWave. "Not only is the new IO Expansion Module flexible, but is compatible with all FreeWave installed Modbus networks."

The new IO Expansion Module is built with the same quality, reliability, performance, testing and low-power consumption customers have come to expect with all FreeWave radios. FreeWave's new Expansion Module is available now. Pricing varies, depending upon OEM configuration. To find out more information, please visit www.freewave.com.
