ROCK PROPHECIES, the Feature-Length Chronicle of Conflicted Photographer Robert M. Knight, Will Be Screened at IDA's 13th Annual DocuWeeks Showcase for Films Qualifying for Oscar Consideration, August 14th-20th in NYC

Book Signing and Q+A with Knight and Performance by the School of Rock on Aug. 14th at Samsung Experience

NEW YORK, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- ROCK PROPHECIES, presented by the Samsung Memoir(TM), is the feature-length chronicle of conflicted photographer Robert M. Knight, on a quest to find both himself and the world's next great guitar player. It will be at IDA's 13th Annual DocuWeeks Showcase in New York City, Aug 14-20, screening twice daily at the IFC Center.

To kick off the first screening on Aug 14, Robert Knight will host a book signing for "Rock Gods: Forty Years of Rock Photography" (Insight Editions, October 2008) at the Samsung Experience (10 Columbus Cir., Third Level, New York, NY 10019) from 5-7pm. The book is a comprehensive collection of Knight's work with over 200 full-color images, plus commentary from artists that Knight photographed during the past four decades. The book signing will include a presentation of funny and moving stories from Robert's experience in the eccentric world of rock n' roll, followed by a Q+A session and live performance by students from the School of Rock.

Robert Knight is one of the most prolific rock photographers in history. ROCK PROPHECIES explores his amazing career and follows him on his quest to help the bands of today become the Rock legends of tomorrow, whether promoting Northern Irish band The Answer before anybody has heard of them, or convincing Aussie band Sick Puppies to sell everything and move to the United States. When Robert stumbles upon Tyler Bryant - a 16-year old guitar phenom from Texas - he's convinced he may have found the next Stevie Ray Vaughan. Robert risks his reputation and career and takes a chance on Tyler. The two then set off on an unbelievable journey to take their own shot at making history.

ROCK PROPHECIES has been drawing major awards since making its festival debut in March 2009, including three Best Documentary Audience Awards from the AFI Dallas Film Festival, the Nashville Film Festival and the Maui Film Festival, respectively, and one Best Soundtrack at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. IndieWIRE's Harriette Yahr, reporting from Maui, said, "This doc has all the elements of great filmmaking: a compelling subject, a terrifically-crafted story, a superlative look, a killer soundtrack, and loads of heart."

In a venture with Samsung Mobile, ROCK PROPHECIES will also introduce the world to another way to capture historic Rock moments with the Samsung Memoir(TM) - a full touch-screen mobile phone designed to look and feel like a point-and-shoot digital camera. The Memoir, available exclusively from T-Mobile, has a built-in 8-megapixel camera and premium multimedia features, placing it among the highest quality imaging phones available in the U.S. The Memoir's ability to capture and share quality photographs, and Robert Knight's talent of capturing historical rock n' roll moments make the tie-in with the film a natural fit.
