Letterman Trouncing Conan in Nationwide Salary Debate

Letterman Trouncing Conan in Nationwide Salary Debate

NEW YORK, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Late-night heavyweights David Letterman and Conan O'Brien are slugging it out over more than just ratings these days. Their rivalry has also spilled over into a nationwide debate over who deserves a higher salary. For now, Letterman holds a commanding lead, but Conan supporters still have time to weigh in.

Participants in the "Getting Paid In America" survey from American Payroll Association are asked, "Which of these popular late-night talk show hosts do you think should be paid more than the other?" Current results show Letterman with an overwhelming lead of 83 percent of the vote, compared to 17 percent for Conan.

Fans of O'Brien still have time to weigh in. The survey is live until September 11 at 5 p.m. ET. Real-time results of the contest and a link to the survey are available at www.nationalpayrollweek.com/nightshow.

The "Getting Paid In America" survey is held in conjunction with National Payroll Week, an awareness campaign that educates Americans about their paychecks and payroll-related benefits. The survey asks workers questions about their paychecks and gauges their opinions of how they're paid.

"The debate over the salaries of these two accomplished late-night hosts is a fun way of bringing the useful educational message of National Payroll Week to a broader audience," said Dan Maddux, Executive Director of the American Payroll Association, the survey's publisher.

Currently, more than 26,000 employees have taken the survey. Survey participants are eligible for the grand prize of a free paycheck and trip to Las Vegas.
