Plymouth Rock Studios Offers Locals a Chance to Act and Give Back

PLYMOUTH, Mass., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- As New England's entertainment industry is expanding, Plymouth Rock Studios and the Rock Educational Cooperative have teamed up to offer Acting Labs for local residents. The Labs provide participants with hands-on experience in both the beginner and advanced level.

The Labs are taught by Film and Television Acting Instructor, Kevin Lasit. Lasit's professional background in the entertainment industry over the last twenty years has landed him in television shows, commercials, independent movies, and theatre productions. In addition, he served as Director and Performer Educator for Kaiser Permanente's Educational Theater Programs for ten years.

The content of the Acting Labs ranges from extra work, to commercials, to lead and day player roles. "I'm amazed how much I've already learned in just one class," said acting participant, Jennifer Houston.

All Acting Labs are free of charge, however participants are asked to bring one non-perishable food item to each class. The Rock Educational Cooperative has developed a relationship with the Greater Plymouth Food Warehouse, a distribution center run by the South Shore Community Action Council that aims to relieve hunger in the Greater Plymouth area. The Acting Labs have donated over 1,300 pounds of food to date, which translates to around 1,000 meals.

"My goal is to not only provide professional competitive training to actors who want to be a part of the entertainment industry but to also make a difference in Plymouth and the surrounding areas," said Lasit.

The Acting Labs are still accepting participants for the beginner classes. To register visit https://plymouthrockstudios.wufoo.com/forms/actinglabs/.
