NEW YORK, July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Logo returns this summer with its landmark gay documentary series, "Real Momentum", for an eighth season with the Logo premiere of "Billie Jean King: Portrait of a Pioneer" followed by the world premiere of "Ptown Diaries", a new documentary about one of the most popular gay travel and vacation destinations in the U.S. - Provincetown, MA.

"Billie Jean King: Portrait of a Pioneer" takes a closer look at the personal and professional life of this tennis superstar; focusing on everything from her record 20 wins at Wimbledon and defeat of Bobby Riggs at the "Battle of the Sexes" match, to her personal struggles including her divorce, her struggle to discover her sexual identity and the lawsuit that nearly destroyed her career. The gripping documentary follows the story of Billie Jean King and recognizes her not only as a player, but a promoter and an innovator who has done more to advance the cause for women's sports than any person before or since. "Billie Jean King: Portrait of a Pioneer" will air on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 8:00 PM ET/PT.

"Ptown Diaries", narrated by award-winning actor Alan Cumming, takes an in-depth look at Provincetown, Massachusetts and how it came to be "the" travel destination for throngs of gay and lesbian vacationers. This film festival favorite documentary identifies Ptown as the gay capital of the Northeast and a place of refuge throughout its history starting with early pilgrim settlements. The documentary demonstrates how the keystone of the town - freedom - has allowed it to develop into a culturally rich area where famous artists, musicians, authors and playwrights launched their career and transformed popular culture. "Ptown Diaries" will air on channel and LOGOonline.com on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 8:00 PM ET/PT.

This season of "Real Momentum" also offers a selection of other documentaries whose subjects demonstrate the diversity of the LGBT community. The world premiere of "Bi The Way" looks at the lives of young men and women who prove that the division between gay and straight is vanishing and that bisexuality is more widespread than it is reported to be; "Red Without Blue" examines the life of twins, Mark and Alex Farley, capturing Alex's transition from male to female and Mark's first serious relationship with another man; and the US premiere of "Searching 4 Sandeep", which follows an Australian filmmaker's search for true love, which she may have found on the internet with a closeted lesbian living with her family in the UK. Also, be sure to catch the world premiere of "Real Momentum Shorts", a one hour collection of three unique, short documentaries: "Smalltown Boy" is about a teenage boy's decision to march in his English village's parade in drag, "The Pull" follows two men who make an unusual relationship choice and "Lezbros" focuses on the friendships between lesbians and their straight male best friends.

Real Momentum documentaries are also available for sale on iTunes and other download-to-own services. Many titles from the series can be watched in full-length on LOGOonline.com. Logo's diverse array of carefully curated documentaries demonstrates the channel's commitment to exploring the complex lives of LGBT people around the world.
