Fundacion Azteca, the Non-Profit Arm of Grupo Salinas, Raises Over US$6.5 Million to Support Mexican Food Bank
-- Funds will be used to feed 135,000 people for an entire year
MEXICO CITY, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Fundacion Azteca, the non-profit arm of Grupo Salinas, raised over US$6.5 million (90 million pesos) during the 51st Movimiento Azteca awareness and fundraising campaign to support the Asociacion Mexicana de Bancos de Alimentos (AMBA) food bank.
The amount raised was well above the initial goal of 4 million pesos and will provide nourishment for 135,000 people for an entire year.
The funds were presented by Fundacion Azteca Executive President Esteban Moctezuma Barragan to AMBA Executive President Luciano Aimar Reyes, in the presence of Unilever Corporate Communications Director Nuri Feliu and Fundacion Wal Mart representative Maria Gisela Noble during the Hechos de la Noche national newscast on TV Azteca.
Once again, Grupo Salinas, led by its founder and chairman, Ricardo B. Salinas Pliego, confirms the generosity of Mexicans and the awareness of the importance of nutrition within Mexican society.
