Big Brothers Big Sisters Video Wins National Recognition
PHILADELPHIA, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Changing How Our Children Grow Up in America, the powerful opening video (http://www.bbbs.org/videos/Urgent_Relevant) for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America's 2008 National Conference, has received national recognition.
FMP, creator of visually-based business communications, picked up a 2009 Silver Telly Award for its production of the moving video. For 30 years, the Telly Awards have recognized the nation's best local, regional and cable television commercials and finest video, film and Web productions.
The winning Big Brothers Big Sisters video, narrated by children, portrays real challenges and temptations faced by the nearly 260,000 children served by the donor-supported volunteer organization -- those of single, low-income and/or incarcerated parents.
The production launched a major nationwide effort for Big Brothers Big Sisters' nearly 400 agencies to remind Americans of what the organization achieves. Independent research shows Big Brothers Big Sisters improves children's odds for succeeding in school and avoiding negative behaviors. A new "Adult Little" study conducted for the organization by Harris Interactive offers a glimpse at what happens when "Littles" become adults. They are more likely than their peers to have four-year degrees and household incomes of $75,000 or more. They also are more likely to have strong family relationships.
"It was a thrill for our team at FMP to work with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the young actors in our production to create a video that engages the emotions as well as the senses, and ultimately helps inspire people to support a great organization," said FMP Vice President, Creative Media Don Cox.
