Atlantic Highlands Arts Council Presents FilmOneFest

New Jersey's First One-Minute International Film Festival

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, N.J., July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The Atlantic Highlands Arts Council presents FilmOneFest, New Jersey's first one-minute international film festival, 7pm, Saturday, July 18th in the Atlantic Highlands Municipal Marina. New Jersey Natural Gas and the Atlantic Highlands Chamber are festival sponsors for this event.

FilmOneFest was the brainchild of Robert O'Connor, director of FilmOneFest, award winning artist and filmmaker. "I knew a one-minute film festival could be a powerful community event. The format is easy and accessible, and allows for wide creative participation," said O'Connor. "You do not need expensive resources, crews, multiple cameras to create an exciting film."

The creation of the FilmOneFest has become a real community effort, capturing the imagination and winning the support of a wide array of film enthusiasts. This first year produced 91 submissions from 10 countries and 17 states.

Film professionals in the community have joined the effort, giving the festival a stellar panel of judges, including video artist and animator Bob Mataranglo, truTV producer Jon Crowley, movie critic Joan Ellis, and award winning sound editor Gedney Webb.

This program is made possible in part by the Monmouth County Arts Council through funding from the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the County Historical Commission, and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment of the Arts. Additional sponsors include the following: Atlantic Highlands Public Library, AllCare Medical, Flaky Tart, Jewell Marketing Associates, Mayor Fred Rast, My NJ Office Supply, Seastreak, TD Bank and Whole Foods.

At 7 pm, musical entertainment begins with jugglers, stilt walkers and face painters. 60 VERY short movies will be screened at 9pm with free popcorn and drinks sponsored by Whole Foods.

Admission is free and parking is available. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. FilmOneFest supports the Atlantic Highlands Food Pantry - you are invited to bring a non-perishable food donation. In case of rain or high winds, FilmOneFest will be moved to The Charles Hesse Parish Center, St. Agnes Parish, 55 South Ave, Atlantic Highlands.

On Sunday, July 19, at 2 pm, there will be an Awards Reception with wine and hors d'oeuvres at Julia's Restaurant, 91 First Ave. $15 Tickets can be purchased at the door, or online at http://www.filmonefest.org/
