Dickey Betts and Great Southern to Headline the July 24 Event
DETROIT, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Ford Motor Company is proud to present "4th Fridays with Ford" at Campus Martius Park July 24 with headline performers Dickey Betts and Great Southern.
4th Fridays with Ford is an all-day celebration of Detroit through music and the arts taking place at Campus Martius Park on the fourth Friday of each summer month (July 24 and August 28). Presenting sponsor, Ford Motor Company will have current production vehicles, interactive games and product specialists on hand in the park as well.
An added feature to the July 24 event is a kid-friendly food item collection for Forgotten Harvest and Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan sponsored by Charter One. The Gleaners truck will be on hand at Campus Martius Park from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm accepting donations. Requested items are snacks such as peanut butter and jelly, fruit cups, tuna in foil packages and snack boxes of raisins.
The July 24 celebration kicks off with a Lunchtime Arts concert on the main stage at 11:30 am featuring performers from Wayne State University and Detroit International Jazz Festival. Student ensembles from Jazz Week @ Wayne show what they've learned after master classes with Jazz Festival luminaries and Wayne State Jazz Studies professors.
Happy Hour takes place from 4:00 to 6:00 pm with live music performed by The Crowded Heads of Rhythm covering pop songs from the 80's.
6:00 pm marks the start of Rhythm and Blues music with R. J's Rhythm Rockers performing old school R&B featuring singer Alberta Adams.
The music and entertainment continues through 7:30 pm as the Ford Halftime Show commences featuring give-a-ways and raffle prizes from presenting sponsor Ford Motor Company. 4th Fridays with Ford guests will have the opportunity to win a hotel stay and meal package at the Dearborn Inn. This package includes a one-night stay for two with dinner and breakfast included along with free admission to The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.
July headliner, Dickey Betts and Great Southern take the main stage for a live performance at 8:00 pm.
The Rhythm and Blues theme continues at 9:45 pm with the film "The Blues Brothers" shown on the big screen. There will also be a free walking tour led by Inside Detroit. This walking tour will end up at the official Inside Detroit After Party, which will be a different downtown bar or restaurant for each 4th Fridays event offering special discounts. The July 24 featured establishment is Harbor House located at 440 Clinton St.
